Last week, I decided to spend several days hiking in Shenandoah National Park. I have a lifetime senior national park pass, so I’m putting it to good use now that I’m retired and have considerably more free time.
I ran into a handful of humans and the occasional deer on the hiking trails.
I was able to hike several trails, including part of the Appalachian Trail. My favorite was Blackrock Summit, with its exposed rocks on the mountainside.
A couple of the trails were marked with warning signs about bears in the area. I’ve seen black bears in Shenandoah numerous times, but didn’t see any on this three-day trip. However, I did see plenty of other wildlife, including deer, rabbits, wild turkeys, and snakes.
Spotted this on one of my hikes. A tree with a large pair of… burls.
Life isn’t always an upward trajectory.
Defend, protect, and celebrate the sacred bond with nature.
My car camping set up. A comfortable bed, a refrigerator, my power station, and several baskets holding clothes, toiletries, cooking supplies, and other assorted essentials.
I power this new 24-quart fridge with my 1000-watt power station.
The nice thing about owning this hybrid is having a 12-volt plug in the back of the car. It charges my power station whenever the car is on.
I already have more trips planned for the summer. Stay tuned for more nomadic adventures!
